Vonage SMS

Connecting Nexmo SMS to chat with customers over SMS.

To connect with Vonage, you will need a Vonage account.

Vonage is a cloud communications platform that allows you to send and receive SMS text messages through web service APIs.

This Vonage integration lets you respond to SMS messages directly from our platform.

Setting Up Vonage

Purchasing a Virtual Number

Note that you will have to upgrade to a paid Vonage account in order to purchase a Virtual Number.

Step 1: Navigate to the Vonage Developer Dashboard

Sign in with your user credentials. If you are not already signed in, you may have to log in with your Vonage account first.

Step 2: Purchase a phone number

Under the Numbers section of the sidebar, select Buy numbers

Step 3: Choose a phone number

Select a phone number that you prefer and best suit your company needs. You can select a number from any country available on Vonage.

Be sure to select a phone number that supports SMS capability as it is required for this connection to work.

Connecting Vonage

Step 1: Navigate to Channel Settings

From Settings Module, navigate to the menu item, Channels

Step 2: Add Channel

Press Add Channel and choose Vonage. Then select SMS on the second step.

Step 3: Sign in to Vonage

Sign in to Vonage using your user credentials

Step 4: Add API Key and API Secret

Find the API Key and API Secret on the Dashboard and add it to the corresponding fields at Alexa360

Step 5: Follow through the instructions

At Alexa360 platform, follow through the instructions by pressing NEXT.

Step 6: Adding a phone number

Navigate to Your Numbers and locate the phone number. Add it to the corresponding field at Alexa360 platform.

Step 7: Navigate to the phone number settings

Press the settings icon next to the number to be connected

Step 8: Add the generated URL to Vonage

From the Alexa360 platform, copy the generated URL and paste it to the Inbound Webhook URL field at Vonage Configure Number

Step 9: Save Webhook configuration

Press Save to save your Webhook configuration.

Step 10: Complete set up at Alexa360

Press DONE to complete set up

Once you completed the setup, any SMS sent to the Vonage phone number will now be received in your space.

Channel Configuration

Vonage SMS channel can be configured with a unique channel name

Step 1: Navigate to Channel Settings

From Settings Module, navigate to the menu item, Channels

Step 2: Locate the Vonage SMS channel

Once you have located the Vonage SMS channel, press Configure

Step 3: Make the necessary configuration

You can configure the following:

• Channel name - Name used internally to identify the account

Important: As for the other details, take extra note while updating as it might fail to receive messages from the connected Vonage SMS account.

Step 4: Update the configuration

Press Done to update the channel configuration
